Division 1
Another season when the championship went to the last week with Sawston winning it having been on top,or near all season. This is Sawston's second title and this iin three years in the top division. Saffron Walden finished very strong and must of wished for a better start to the season a start that robbed them of the title and will challenge for it next season for sure. Abington 1 back after a years absence must be well happy challenging for the title right up to the last few weeks with some very impressive results on the way. Weston Colville had a better season and finished comfortable mid table and are still capable of beating anyone in this division. Indiffrent season for Haverhill 1 last years champions disapointed in the league securing their status on the last game but in the cup played well and won it beating Sawston in the final. Babraham must wait to see if they are to remain in division 1 after a difficult year, this depending on entrants for next year. Fulbourn's first year in the League proved tough and will do well in division 2 next season contenders for a quick return.
Division 2
Hundon 1 and Horseheath battled out for the division 2 title and were impressive all year Hundon 1 had a fantastic year winning the division with some big scores and to cap it winning the League Cup as well to complete a double and will do well in the top division. Horseheath will be amongst the favourites for promotion next year. Long Melford very strong at home but travel poorly and if they correct that will be near the top next year. Survival at this level wa the first objective for The Cherry Tree and they did this with a great finish to the season. Halstead playing a mix of youngsters and adults found it hard and went down on the last wek of the season but will be favourites for a quick return. Helions Bumpstead having been promoted lost some key players this year and suffered but have regrouped and will do well next year in 3B.
Division 3A
Great season for Haverhill 2 winning the division by a big margin and reaching the League Cup final. Best finish for Wratting Lions and could next year be a first promotion for a well established member of the league ? Brockley fielding a lot of youth team players challenged for promotion right up to the last few weeks and had a good season. Hundon 2 on their day capable of beating any team in this division and dark horses for next year. Gestingthorpe had a poor start and are well capable of winning this division, as it showed towards the end of the season with some very impressive results. Highpoint had a very good start and were jiont top after 3 weeks with 3 wins if only the season ended then!
Division 3B
Shelfords were on top all season and were worthy winners in their debut season.
Abington 2 finished second again could it be promotion next seson ? Balsham another side capable of beating anyone and have showed it this year with some good results. Linton with a lot of talented youngsters coming through have a solid foundation for next year. Mill Green relegated last year are rebuilding and had a good finish to the season. This division was very tight and all the teams in it are capable of winning it next year, but a difficult division to win as new teams coming in are often near the top.
Next year
If we can get some new teams to join we are looking to split division 2 into two sections, this will cut the travel distance as we are doing with divisions 3 at the moment. So if your club is interested or you know a team that might like to join us, get them to contact the League Secretary Colin Godsmark.
